Manual Lymphatic drainage (MLD) or Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is a "retraining" of the lymph to make it flow faster and more efficiently.

The lymph system is the "waste disposal system" within the body. It acts as the body’s defence; it clears away toxins, bacteria, cell debris, excess water and proteins. Without this important system we would die within twenty-four hours.

Nicole has been a qualified therapist since 1991. She holds a Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology, Remedial Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and C.D.T. Combined Decongestive Therapy (Manual Lymphatic Drainage including bandaging). In order to become a MLD Practitioner she trained at the Dr Vodder School, in North America and Austria. As a member of MLD UK, Nicole is also registered as a FULL MEMBER of M.L.D.UK practicing in M.L.D. and is listed on the Lymphœdema Support Network.

She has presented case studies at various M.L.D. UK Conferences, has lectured on the subject at Chelmsford Polytechnic for Trainee Nursing Staff and also various surrounding hospitals both for the N.H.S. and Privately.

Nicole receives referrals from Dr J Singer MBBS, MRCP, FRCR, Miss S Jenkins - Breast Surgeon - MBBS, BSc, FRCS, MSc, Mr Patel - Breast Surgeon, Dr Dodd - Dermatologist - MBBch, FRCP, Mr J Refson - Vascular Surgeon - MBBS, FRCS, MS and Mr Bradpiece. If patients are seen by any of the above consultants or the Breast Care nurses within St Margaret's Hospital, Epping and Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, they will receive MLD treatment for Secondary Lymphœdema of the affected arm following Breast cancer surgery, which is funded by the NHS. Please click on NHS/GP Referrals for further details.
